even the architecture in the building was worth taking pictures of.
interesting to see a portrait of a husband and wife where the wife is clearly much more important then the man. Apparently the wife and the artist of this painting later became friends.
When looking at pieces such as this, I tried to pay special attention to how facial features such as the eyes where rendered. Prior to the trip I had started carving a face with coral hair for my stone working project in sculpture. I had not yet decided how I would render my sculptures eyes. I drew alot of ideas and inspiration from the sculptures we looked at in new york.

this was in a zen garden room. I stayed in it for quite awhile because it felt so peaceful and tranquil.
